We desire to glorify God; to worship Him as the Author, Subject, Object, and End of faith and life. As His church, worship is both our calling and our joy. So, gathering for worship, study, and fellowship each Lord’s Day is the center of our life as God’s people.
Yet worship is no trivial matter. It is founded in the church -- the corporate body -- through which God is to receive glory (Eph 3:21). To worship aright, we must first "study the purity and peace of the church."
Thus, uniformly, Affirmation seeks to manifest the distinguishing marks of a true church. In concord with our Reformation heritage, we work to insure...The Word of God is Rightly Preached. We are blessed with consistent, Christ-centered preaching and teaching; proper Biblical exposition of law and gospel.
The Sacraments are Properly Administered. We affirm baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the Christian sacraments, profitable as a means of grace for all who receive these rites with faith...
- We practice covenant baptism for children of believers, and admit uninitiated adults to baptism upon credible profession of faith.
- We administer communion twelve times per year, generally the first Sunday of each month. The Lord’s Supper is open to all professing Christians that are baptized, and members in good-standing, of an evangelical church.
Discipline is Carefully Exercised. Because the Church is comprised of fallen people, its doctrine and practice must ever be open to review and reform, according to the Word of God. Yet, without proper mechanisms, purity, peace, or reformation in the church is impossible. As the local expression of the PCA’s judicial shepherding responsibility, a board of Elders, chosen by Biblical standards, leads Affirmation. Our Elders are responsible to preserve and protect the spiritual welfare of the church, by providing oversight, training, correction and reproof in all matters pertaining to faith and practice.
